Night World No. 2

Author: L.J. Smith

Includes: Dark Angel, The Chosen, Soulmate

Summary: (back cover) In Dark Angel, Gillian is saved from drowning by her guardian angel. Only visible to Gillian, Angel will fulfill her heart's every desire. But when Angel starts making strange and sinister requests, Gillian must question who he truly is and where he came from.

Armed with a wooden stake, martial arts, and the will to resist a vampire's mind control, Rashel struggles to avenge her mother's death in The Chosen. Then she meets Quinn, her soulmate, who is part of the world she has vowed to destroy.

Hannah receives notes warning her of incredible danger in Soulmate. But if death is her destiny, is the Lord of the Night World's love strong enough to save her?

Review: My favorite story was The Chosen? But then I might be biased because Quinn is also my favorite character. The bad guy persona just doesn't get old for me. I would think I would be sick of vamps by now, I keep saying that, but not yet. As long as the story is awesome then it doesn't matter all that much that I've heard all the angles a vamp can have. :) The story isn't just about the vampires though and the other tales are just as great. I love this series! I totally recommend it to you guys. The next one looks even better!

Other Books In The Series:

1.Night World No.1

3.Night World No. 3

*I think this is my favorite cover of the three books! Very pretty. Sorry that I haven't been posting a lot, but school is suffocating me right now and I've only been posting what I've been reading which at the moment is not very much. I think there will only be one review per week for about a month. :(

Night World: Vol. 1

Author: L.J Smith

Includes: Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, Spellbinder

Summary: Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters--they live among us without our knowledge. Night World is their secret society, a secret society with very strict rules. And falling in love breaks all the laws of the Night World.

Review: I didn't put it down at all. I loved it. Although the whole vampire thing has become a little unoriginal, I still feel drawn to that genre. Two of the three stories are about vampires, but other supernatural beings have been incorporated and makes it a tale of the Night World's society.

All the characters were completly themselves. I would say that Ash is my favorite because he just becomes so human when he's struggling over Mary-Lynette. His personality and ego made me laugh. :D I think it is reccomendable for paranormal freak fans! I can almost guarantee that the wide cast of characters will keep you wanting to finish out their stories. I'm excited about reading the next one! :)

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Author: Mark Twain

Summary: The sequel to Tom Sawyer is dedicated to Huck's awesome adventures as he tries to escape his abusive father and the pressures of being a civilized boy.

Review: The book was awesomeness. Mark Twain is pretty funny and Huck is a ridiculous, but quirky character. His wittiness gives the book such a fun atmosphere. I'm not going to lie though, because there were some really slow parts where I wanted to pull out my hair. It was particularly hard to understand Jim's speech and I ended up having to read most of his dialogue out loud in order to understand. Maybe it was just me, but it was kind of difficult. The good thing is that it is a relatively short book! If your going to read a classic then I say you should read this one.
Rating: It's a classic, so I suppose it is perfect. :p My teacher always tells us to assume so.

Skip Beat (Anime)

Number of Episodes: 25

Summary: A timid girl goes with her boyfriend to Tokyo in order to give him support as he tries to reach his dream of becoming a super famous Japanese idol. Later she finds out that he's only been using her as a stepping stone and really doesn't care for her. She vows to take revenge on him by becoming a bigger star. She joins his agency's rival agency and strikes up a love-hate relationship with her mentor. Her mentor is her ex's most hated person. She's forced to join the "Love Me" Department which is supposed to help her develop good communication skills. It is based on a manga which goes way past the anime. I'm hoping for a season 2.

Review: It is romantic like, but HILARIOUS! I laughed a lot throughout the episodes because the main character is just awesome and really bi-polar. Her mentor is such a cool and collected person, but near the end he develops emotions. I would really recommend this to anyone that liked Lovely Complex or Perfect Girl Evolution. I enjoyed both and this one. The drawings were lovely and her ex is a childish and selfish player. Her makeover bothered me at first, but then I thought it rocked.

My favorite songs as of right now. (1)

I'm just going to post up a bunch of the MVs with the artist title. Maybe you'll find something you like? :) They may be years old, but I have probably just uncovered them. I think I'll do this a couple times per month. I will probably still dedicate a post about one song like I do since it gives more background information than this sort of compilations.

Shiver

Author: Maggie Stiefvater

Summary: Boy is wolf. Girl got bit by his buddies, but doesn't turn into a wolf although Boy keeps waiting for her during the winters. In the summer he becomes a boy and later Girl realizes he is her winter wolf. His eyes give him away. Things begin there. :)

Review: I loved this book. I wasn't so sure what my reaction to it was going to be since I had heard some pretty negative reviews on how the female character was too weak and wimpy like Bella in Twilight.

I have to disagree. Every teenager who falls in love or thinks their in love is going to act a little bit like they ARE in love. When you lose someone who is close to you, it is perfectly normal to be distraught. You don't have to go crazy, but if you act like it doesn't affect you then that is why worse and very unrealistic. I thought the author did an amazing job portraying Grace.

The boy, Sam, was also well developed. Even though he's the guy, he isn't stereotypical. He actually had feelings! He was sensitive and I could really feel his emotions. He wasn't just the guy for Grace to lean on and have fight for her, but instead he was an active part in their relationship.

The only little (really little) problem I had with the book was that Sam and Grace blended together in some parts. Like I would be reading Sam's pov and accidentally think that it was Grace. That happened only a few times and when I finished, I felt pretty sure that each character was unique.

Olivia was an especially interesting minor character because of her photography. Isabel (haha that's my name) also had a strong personality and vibe. Jack (I love that name) was the angry one, but he also revealed that he was just a human in some parts. I liked the book. Reccomendations to read it go out to people who like paranormal, but not overthetop stuff. The book was pretty believable in presenting the whole shift, so it didn't feel ridiculous. :)

I think I'm becoming extremely stingy with the fives. I can't remember the last book that got one even though I've loved most of them.
